The Customs Enforcement Unit (CEU) is
mandated to prevent the smuggling of
contraband items including restricted,
prohibited and, uncustomed goods, narcotics,
firearms, counterfeit products and currency
into and out of the country. The purpose is
to prevent revenue loss and to protect the
local market, environment and the society.
The CEU contributes to trade facilitation by promoting
lawful trade through the enforcement of regulations,
ensuring that goods comply with legal requirements and
by so doing create a fair trading environment. It strengthens
supply chain security by enhancing border protection
through intelligence gathering and investigative techniques
to identify and prevent threats. Additionally, the CEU supports
national economic development by protecting government
revenue, preventing losses from illegal trade, and promoting a
stable and secure environment for legitimate business
activities.
